Paxton/ECS Supercharged Corvette Wins at LSX Shootout
Memphis, TN. (October 17, 2009) – The final results from Memphis Motorsports Park and the 3rd Annual GM Performance Parts LSX Shootout that took place at the NMCA World Finals in Memphis, TN are now in! Doug Ring took top honors in the GM Performance Parts True Street Class.
The NMCA / LSx True Street Class featured more than 120 modified high LSx Powered street cars that are certified street legal and able to complete a 30-mile drive through the streets around Memphis. All model years and power adders were permitted. The Class is designed for stock-chassis or back-half type vehicles running true 10.5-inch wide tires. All Vehicles must be registered, licensed, and insured. Following the 30 Cruise, competitors were required to make 3 back to back passes without the ability even open the hood or top off the fuel tank.
Doug, Co-Owner of East Coast Supercharging (ECS) traveled more than 36 hours round trip to attend the Shootout. “What could more effectively showcase what we do, then to come out and put it all on the line at what is considered the premier LSx Street Car shootout in the nation”. Doug’s car, a 98 Corvette Convertible is prepared with a GM LS2 stroked to 402 ci, and supplemented with a ECS Supercharging System with a Paxton Novi 2000 head unit. “I drive the car on the street quite often, and have logged more than 30 sub 9 second passes on the set up the majority of the event was business as usual.” Doug made 3 consecutive passes of 8.86, 8.81 and 9.05 for an average of 8.91, besting the competition by more than a full half second. 45 Minutes following the event, Doug bolted up his slicks and tweaked the tune to click of an ET of 8.63 et, setting a new record in the world of late model supercharged Corvettes.
Doug thanked Paxton Superchargers, American Racing Headers and Pfadt Race Engineering for putting together a suspension that is not only able to put the power to the ground, but lives up to the rigors of street driving. “As fast as it is, the car is easy to drive. On the street or at the track, the car is stable and still comes off the line incredibly well while holding the IRS ’60 record for a late model IRS Corvette”
